Our Belief
At Liberty, we continually strive to improve the sustainability of our packaging products and our operations. It is simply how we do business.
From our earliest beginnings in 1918, we have worked to preserve our planet. In our manufacturing plants, we have embraced processes that reduce the amount of raw materials we use, and we recover and recycle our waste materials.
Within our Paper and Packaging Group, our unique manufacturing loop promotes reuse and recycling.
- At Liberty Carton, we manufacture our corrugated boxes from recycled paper
- At LDI Fibres, we collect used corrugated boxes to recycle into paper
- At Liberty Paper, we complete the cycle by using that recycled corrugate to make 100 percent recycled paper

Our Results
Each day we strive to meet our commitment to preserving and protecting the environment. Here are just some of the ways we have already made a difference.
- All Liberty Paper and Packaging Group facilities are ISO 9001 approved. In addition, Liberty Paper has obtained chain of custody certifications with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
- Liberty Carton reclaims over 99% of our paper waste through traditional recycling and our partnership with Liberty Paper. These efforts keep 200,000 tons of corrugated out of landfills and save approximately 3.2 million trees every year.
- We extract all solids from our waste water before discharging into the sanitary sewer system.
- Our design team initiates designs which use less total material and replace petroleum-based foam with corrugate cushioning structure.
